A collaborative legal community event held in honour of National Truth & Reconciliation Day

 
For its 2024 Homecoming event and to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Faculty of Law invites you to join us for our second annual conference of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Indigenous Inaakonigewin. The focus of this year’s conference is Engaging in Economic Reconciliation and will feature many engaging discussions and speakers. There is no cost to attend.
 
The conference is open to students, faculty, practitioners and the public and offers an opportunity for the University of Manitoba to host, engage with, debate, and discuss scholarly and artistic works related to Indigenous peoples and the law.
 
This year’s conference will be co-hosted by the Manitoba Law Foundation, The Law Society of Manitoba, the Manitoba Bar Association, Faculty of Law Alumni Outreach, and current faculty. The conference will bring together academics, legal community, Indigenous community leaders, and business partners, to discuss Indigenous Economic Reconciliation.
 
The panelists will include First Nations and business partners to discuss several projects ongoing in Manitoba. Academics will present to fill in theory and history behind the need for Economic Reconciliation. Angie Bruce, VP Indigenous, will be opening the conference with a Keynote talk.
