This intensive one-day program covers estate administration from A-Z, starting with the questions you need to ask prior to taking on a file, to the distribution of the estate, and the key steps in between. Designed for lawyers new to this area of practice, topics will include:

 

  • Opening a file
  • Administration before and after grant of probate or administration
  • Probate registry do’s and don’ts
  • Uncontested surrogate practice matters
  • Minors and beneficiaries under a disability
  • Advising personal representatives
  • Duties of lawyers acting for personal representatives
  • How to get paid and avoid fee disputes
  • Limiting risk and avoiding claims
